Some 3D Models from Early to Mid-2000's Built in Anim8or

Jeremy Heminger in Space Suit Modeled in Anim8or

For several years in the early to mid-2000's I was very interested in 3D modelling. I generally used a free program called Anim8or however I did eventually move on to Blender...I still tend to use Anim8or because it's just really simple.

The disappointing thing about these images is that they are all low-resolution. I lost a ton of working files from this era.

Some Old 3D Animation I Built With Anim8or

This stuff used to be so much fun to build...1. I wish I still had all the stuff I built. 2. I wish I was still inspired to do this stuff...Now I sit down, start to do some modeling and in a few minutes I find myself coding or watching a YouTube video...It just doesn't hold my interest as much anymore. This was back in 2008 - 2010 ... ish.

Meh...Maybe some day soon I'll get inspired.

Animated Grass Coded Into Anim8or Using Game Maker Language

Mon, 01/15/2018 - 18:15

In the late 2000's I was really into 3D animation and making 3D games. I was primarily using a free program called Anim8or. The program saved its files as a readable text file that could easily be edited. Also, to program had some simple methods for morphing model animation. I decided to do a few experiments dynamically creating animation by combining the output of another program I was using at the time Game Maker.

Doom Style Simple 3D in Javascript

A LOOOooong time ago...well 2001-2002'ish (I think). I was playing around a lot with Game Maker by Mark Overmars. There was developer named Brent who went by the handle Freegadgets who made a 3D engine Gadget 3D. It was really quite impressive. He started off by simply remaking a simple version of Doom. Over time he expanded it and eventually it used actual 3D polygons. It was loads of fun to build games with it and very easy. It was also a great learning tool. (As with MANY of my old projects I lost most of the games and models I built during this period).
